Church of St. Michael the Archangel
This church, which stands off the Coast Road as it sweeps past the Kennedy Memorial, was built in the year 1652. It used to serve the people of the Qawra and l-Imdawra areas, but since the building of the Burmarrad church it has lost its importance.
Shortly after it was built, Girolama, wife of Antonio Zammit of Naxxar, made a foundation for a sung mass and a sermon on the feast day of St. Michael, and for the singing of first vespers on the eve. (Acts of Notary Cauchi of 1659)
After the last was the M.U.S.E.U.M. society used to hold meetings at St. Michael's.
There is one altar dedicated to St. Michael and a Via Crucis, with a fine Via Crucis cross. The Franciscans who serve the Burmarrad Parish have renewed the pavement and installed an iron door. The bell, unfortunately, has been stolen.
The feast is celebrated on the last Sunday in September, when a pilgrimage procession goes from the Burmarrad Parish Church to St. Michael's and a Mass with a homily is celebrated.
